This just might be the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time. Also, I’m sorry about your mom. Because while this may not all be literally true, it seems like it may be essentially true. And I have my grandmother’s memoirs of the Blitz. And the basement bit feels really real. So… world peace eh? Would be nice. Really nice. For everyone. Yeah.

Yeah ok so there’s no funny way I can think of for thanking you for writing something so funny about something so horrific. There’s a whole lotta feels in this one.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. When life sends you bombs, um... er... hm.

I truly hope she got a good giggle reading this piece!

She's lucky to have you at her back, darlin'.

Interesting times suck; grateful your biting humor distracts from the sting.

This is hilarious and very enlightening. Almost like the movie “Life is beautiful” where you have to try to make atrocities seem normal and fun. Toxic positivity does not work in certain circumstances and might get you killed 🤣😵‍💫

Such people who are perpetually negative at every turn ARE exhausting, and will start bringing you down with them. It has to be some kind of pathology.I cannot understand how anyone could survive in this world, or have contact with friends and family, in that state. My own mother was like that for quite a while... It took a major 'reordering' of her life to change that.

Hang in there kid, at least you realized there’s nothing else you can do for her!

Oh Orli! I so empathized with your “frustration” turned into a very funny piece of art. I too have family in israel, and friends. Truly, I have no words for them.

A few days ago I sent an email to the editor of one of our newspapers in the European country I live in… just out of anger at one of so many “negative” articles. Actually, why the quotation marks?.It was negative, but also, it happened to be untrue - they had reported on an IDF jet being shot down… reportedly, reported by Iranian news… I just had to get some steam out. If I’d been in israel I could have shouted at someone cutting in front of me in line, but here, I have to behave…

How can we stay calm and positive and upbeat while our moms are whining like that?

Hoping all our moms and children and those of all our friends and enemies alike won’t have to worry about this and they can listen happily to podcasts about finding balance in life and such.

כמו שאומרים: יהיה בסדר…

אבל מ ת י ???
